Created in 1994 by Missouri’s legislature to solve the workers compensation crisis, Missouri Employers Mutual (MEM) quickly lived up to its mandate to serve the state’s business owners and bring safety to the workplace. In March 1995, MEM opened its doors with no policyholders and a $5 million startup loan from the state. In a few short months they doubled their premium. Today, MEM holds an A- (Excellent) A.M. Missouri Employers Mutual and Insurance Advisors of St. Louis
Missouri Employers Mutual, or MEM, has one of the more interesting start-up stories. It was created in 1994 by the Missouri state legislature to help solve the workers compensation crisis. (Many of the major companies had pulled out of the state due to unprofitability.) By the end of 1995 they captured the No.1 ranking in workers compensation market share. They’ve been number 1 ever since.
They have shown a commitment to loss prevention and work safety training. 80% of their 14,000 policyholders are injury free in a typical year.
They are competitively priced and offer one of the broadest scopes of occupational classes written.
